Four People Were On Board
The Kenya Forest Service confirmed the incident in a statement published on its Facebook account, identifying the helicopter by its registration number, 5Y-FSK.
According to the organisation, the aircraft was carrying four people: one pilot and three passengers. KFS said all four occupants had been accounted for and were safe following the crash.
However, Kericho County Police Commander Kivindu Kilonzo said some of those on board had sustained injuries.
Emergency responders retrieved the injured from the wreckage and transported them to hospital for medical attention.
Helicopter Lost Altitude After Takeoff
Witnesses said the helicopter began losing altitude shortly after lifting off, before crashing at the golf club without gaining much height.
The incident occurred amid reports of heavy rainfall in the Kericho area. However, it has not been established whether the weather contributed to the crash.
Investigations Underway
The Kenya Forest Service said the crash site had been secured as authorities began examining the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Investigations are expected to establish what caused the helicopter to go down. No official cause had been confirmed in the information provided.
