Killer T arrested in Harare over alleged threats to dog attack victim’s family
Zimbabwean Zimdancehall musician Kelvin Kusikwenyu, popularly known as Killer T, has been arrested in Harare following a complaint involving the family of a man who was fatally mauled by four dogs.
The musician was reportedly taken to Mabelreign Police Station for questioning as police investigate allegations that he sent threatening WhatsApp messages to members of the bereaved family. Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the arrest, although police were still checking the details of the case.
Killer T arrest linked to Southerton dog attack
The case centres on the death of 39-year-old Malcolm Takudzwa Muzavazi, who was fatally attacked by four dogs in Southerton on 24 September 2026.
Police said the dogs were being kept at a car sale and were under the care of a security guard. The animals reportedly escaped after being released from their kennels for feeding and attacked Muzavazi along a footpath.
He was rushed to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The tragedy has already resulted in several arrests.
Car sale co-owners Gilbert Rumbwere and Itai Tamirepi, together with security guard Mannex Svova, were arrested in connection with the fatal dog attack.
Rumbwere has since appeared before the Mbare Magistrates’ Court facing a culpable homicide charge. The State alleges that the premises were not properly secured, allowing the dogs to escape.
What is Killer T accused of?
Killer T is not being reported as having been arrested over Muzavazi’s death.
Instead, the latest reports say the musician is being investigated over alleged threatening communications directed at members of the deceased man’s family.
Reports circulating online have referred to alleged voice notes containing insults and threats, while The Herald reported allegations involving threatening WhatsApp messages. However, police have not publicly released the alleged messages or provided a detailed account of their contents.
That leaves several important questions unanswered, including what allegedly prompted the messages and what relationship Killer T has with the people involved in the dog attack case.
Police investigation continues
Inspector Chakanza’s confirmation means the arrest is not simply a social media rumour. However, his reported comments also indicate that investigators were still verifying details when the arrest became public.
Killer T’s arrest therefore remains an allegation-driven police matter at this stage.
An arrest does not mean that the musician has been found guilty of threatening anyone. Police still have to complete their investigations before prosecutors decide whether to pursue charges.
