Knowledge Musona Makes History: First Zimbabwean to Play in Four AFCON Editions and Score in Three
Zimbabwe captain Knowledge Musona has reached another historic milestone after becoming the first Zimbabwean footballer to score at three different Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments.
The Scottland FC striker found the net against Angola at the ongoing AFCON 2025 finals, adding to goals he previously scored against Tunisia in 2017 and Guinea in 2021.

Record-Breaking AFCON Appearances
Musona’s latest appearance also saw him break new ground as the first Zimbabwean player to feature in four AFCON tournaments. He represented the Warriors at the 2017, 2019, 2021 and now the 2025 editions of the continental showpiece.

In addition, the experienced forward became the first Zimbabwean footballer to play in four AFCON finals, underlining his longevity and importance to the national team.
Stunning Equaliser Wins Goal of the Day
Musona’s influence went beyond records, as his equalising goal against Angola earned continental recognition. The strike was voted Goal of the Day by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
There were five goals scored across four matches played on the day, but Musona’s effort stood out for its quality and execution.

CAF confirmed the accolade in a post on social media platform X, praising the Zimbabwean forward’s finish and celebrating his contribution at AFCON 2025.
