Kuda Tagwirei Earns Rare Salute From Military Boss
Zanu PF Central Committee member Kudakwashe Tagwirei received unexpected praise this week from Air Force of Zimbabwe (AFZ) commander, Air Vice Marshall Biltim Chingono, who credited him and his Arundel Hospital for saving his life.
Chingono, who was promoted to Air Vice Marshall in 2019, revealed that he had been gravely ill and spent six months at the private facility, with four of those months on life support. His return to public life was first seen at the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) Day commemorations at Rufaro Stadium in Harare.
Chingono’s Ordeal
Sharing his experience, Chingono explained that many people were shocked to see him alive at the ZDF event because his health had deteriorated so badly. He said he had been unconscious for months and was not aware of what was happening around him.
“A lot of people were surprised to see me today. I spent six months in the hospital, with four spent on life support. I did not know what was happening,” said Chingono.
He went on to say that even his staff had lost hope, believing he would not recover. According to him, doctors at Arundel Hospital pulled him back from the brink of death, something he believes could only have been possible through God’s will.

Chingono also noted that businessman and politician Kudakwashe Tagwirei had played a role behind the scenes to ensure his treatment and survival, something he said he was deeply grateful for.
“My staff used to visit and they had lost hope. They said my condition was such that I was expected to be a cabbage. I was taken to Arundel Hospital and here I am. I do not know how they did it, but maybe God saw it fit that a sinner like me be saved. I know Kudakwashe Tagwirei was making efforts in the background to ensure my survival, I really appreciate and thank you for that,” Chingono added.
The Arundel Hospital, established at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, has since gained a reputation for handling serious medical cases.
