Kuwadzana 6 Shooting: Man Fires Gun At ‘Peacemaker’ For Stepping Between Him And Bouncers

A Harare man has appeared in court after allegedly firing a gun at a “peacemaker” who tried to calm a dispute between him and bar bouncers at Kuwadzana 6 Shops.

Simbarashe Mhute, 37, of Westgate, appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Court facing attempted murder charges following the shooting incident, which allegedly occurred on March 16, 2026.

The court heard that the complainant had attempted to defuse tensions between Mhute and bar security personnel before shots were allegedly fired.

Mhute is expected to return to court on April 17, 2026, as the matter continues.

Dispute With Bouncers Turns Violent

The court heard that the incident took place while Mhute was socialising with friends and other patrons at Kuwadzana 6 Shops.

Prosecutor Blessed Songozo told the court that a misunderstanding allegedly broke out between Mhute and bar bouncers.

According to the State, the situation escalated after Mhute allegedly retrieved a firearm from his vehicle.

The complainant then reportedly stepped in to calm the situation.

The State told the court:

“On March 16, 2026, the accused person was socialising with friends and other patrons at Kuwadzana 6 Shops when a misunderstanding arose between him and bar security personnel.”

The court heard that the complainant intervened after Mhute allegedly armed himself.

“The complainant attempted to intervene after the accused person allegedly retrieved a pistol from his vehicle.”

The State further indicated that Mhute allegedly left the scene before returning shortly afterwards.

Peacemaker Allegedly Targeted

The court heard that Mhute allegedly drove away before making a U-turn and returning to the area.

The complainant reportedly followed him in another vehicle and flagged him down in an attempt to calm the situation.

The State told the court:

“The accused person initially drove away from the scene but later made a U-turn and returned. The complainant followed in a separate vehicle and flagged him down in an attempt to defuse the situation.”

It is alleged that the complainant stepped out of his vehicle and attempted to speak to Mhute.

The court heard that Mhute allegedly shouted at the complainant before firing.

“As the complainant stepped out of his vehicle, the accused allegedly shouted at him, pointed a firearm and fired two shots.”

According to the State, the shots missed their intended target.

“Two shots were fired, which missed the complainant.”

Mhute allegedly fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
