Police Release Names Of Six Victims Killed In Kwekwe Road Horror Crash
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has released the identities of six people who died in a horrific road traffic accident that occurred near the Redcliff turn-off along the Harare-Bulawayo Road on 25 May 2026.
The victims were killed when a Honda Fit collided with a haulage truck at the 223-kilometre peg at around 4:45pm. Police had initially announced the fatal collision on X before releasing the names of the deceased after their next of kin had been notified.
Victims Identified By Next Of Kin
In a statement issued on 28 May 2026, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the Chief Staff Officer responsible for Press and Public Relations, said the victims had been formally identified by their families.
The police stated:
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police releases the names of the six victims who were identified by their next of kin.”
The victims were:
- Augustine Mbano (32), a male adult of Mutyoraura Village, Gokwe South
- Nyaruvende Anesu (25), a female adult of Lot 7/9 Chicago, Kwekwe
- Junior Passmore Ndlovu (24), a male adult of Tumbira Village, Gokwe
- Pullen Moyo (27), a male adult of Mapfumo 2 Village, Gokwe
- Sheron Kundai Gundani (25), a female adult of Tauton Fitchlea, Kwekwe
- Piason Moyo (36), a male adult of Mapfumo 2 Village, Gokwe
Another Deadly Accident Claims 10 Lives
Police also provided an update on another fatal accident which occurred on 27 May 2026 at around 5:00am along the Gokwe-Kwekwe Road.
According to the ZRP:
“The names of the 10 victims who perished in a road traffic accident which occurred on 27th May 2026 at 0500 hours at the 110 km peg along Gokwe-Kwekwe Road will be released in due course after the victims have been identified by their next of kin.”
The force said the identification process is still underway.
Police Renew Road Safety Appeal
As investigations continue, police urged motorists to exercise caution on the country’s roads.
Commissioner Nyathi said:
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates that drivers should observe all road rules and regulations to safeguard human lives.”
The latest crashes have once again drawn attention to the human cost of road traffic accidents as authorities continue working to establish the full circumstances surrounding both incidents.
