Man Arrested For Biting Off Girlfriend’s Nose Over A Deleted Call Log

A man has been arrested after biting off his girlfriend’s nose in a jealous rage after she deleted her call log while they were together.

A Colleen Bawn small-scale miner has been sentenced to 10 months imprisonment after a shocking act of domestic violence that left his longtime partner permanently scarred.

The 48-year-old man flew into a jealous frenzy when his 45-year-old girlfriend received a phone call from another man while they were relaxing in the Vhovha mining area on July 2, 2025.

According to court documents from the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, the situation escalated when the woman deleted the call history from her phone. Enraged by this action, the miner first struck his partner with a wooden stick, hitting her across the mouth and the back of her head.

The assault reached horrifying levels when he then bit into her nose, severing a portion of the flesh in the vicious attack.

The victim suffered significant blood loss and severe trauma from the incident, requiring immediate medical attention for her facial injuries.

Court Hands Down 18-Month Sentence

Gwanda Magistrates’ Court delivered justice in the case, sentencing the perpetrator to 18 months behind bars. However, 8 months of the sentence were suspended on condition of good behaviour, leaving an effective prison term of 10 months.

Domestic Violence Epidemic Continues

Legal experts emphasise that such extreme cases of intimate partner violence demonstrate the need for stronger protections and harsher penalties for perpetrators. The victim’s decision to press charges and see the case through to conviction has been praised by women’s rights advocates as an act of courage that may help prevent future attacks.
