A 2-month-old baby boy is fighting for his life after being brutally whipped by his alleged father in Chipinge, Zimbabwe, on 5 August 2025. The man, reportedly drunk, attacked the infant in a fit of rage over paternity doubts.
Drunken Rage Leads to Horrific Attack
According to witnesses, the suspect returned home from a bar and immediately targeted the sleeping infant. The baby’s mother, washing clothes nearby, rushed in when she heard cries—only to be beaten herself.
“He grabbed the baby by the leg, took him inside, and whipped him repeatedly with a fan belt,” a neighbour told Diamond FM Zim. “When the mother tried to stop him, he turned on her too.”
The violence escalated when the man allegedly threatened his wife with a kitchen knife. She fled, leaving the baby behind, and called for help. The suspect later abandoned the injured child and ran.
Baby Hospitalised, Suspect Arrested
The infant was rushed to St Peter’s Hospital with severe lash marks. Police arrested the suspect, who reportedly confessed, saying:
“I did it because I don’t believe the child is mine.”
He now faces attempted murder charges.
Outrage Erupts Online
The incident sparked fury on Facebook, with users demanding harsh justice.
“This monster should never leave jail!” wrote Precious Matika.
Another user, Mufaro Mumue Tsodzo, warned:
“Women, leave violent men before it’s too late.”
Local authorities confirm the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
