Married Drug Dealing Couple Jailed 6 Years Each After Cops Discover Narcotics Stash

Drug Dealing Couple Jailed In Bulawayo Crackdown

A married couple has been jailed following a police drug bust in Bulawayo, after officers intercepted them with dagga and cocaine before uncovering a larger stash at their home, authorities confirmed on 14 April 2026.

The Bulawayo Magistrates’ Court convicted Darian-Lee Kevin Lloyd Jackson (31) and Lakim-Lee Robinson (32) following a police operation carried out in July 2025. Officers later discovered additional drugs and packaging equipment at the couple’s residence in West Somerton.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), the arrests formed part of an ongoing crackdown targeting drug trafficking networks in the city.

“On the 18th of July 2025, police detectives intercepted the pair at the corner of 12th Avenue and Josiah Tongogara Street, where they were found in a parked vehicle,” the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said in a bulletin issued on 14 April 2026.

“A search led to the recovery of dagga sachets, dagga cigarettes and cocaine.”

Police Discover Larger Drug Stash At West Somerton Home

Authorities said the discovery in the vehicle prompted officers to conduct a further search at the couple’s residence in West Somerton, Bulawayo.

“A further search at their residence in West Somerton uncovered large quantities of loose dagga stored in buckets, additional sachets ready for distribution, drug packaging equipment, including pocket scales and heat sealing machines,” the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) stated.

Police reportedly recovered 9 kilogrammes of dagga valued at ZiG 240,000 and 5 grammes of cocaine valued at ZiG 5,400.

Investigators said the packaging equipment suggested the drugs were allegedly prepared for distribution.

Couple Sentenced After Guilty Plea And Trial

Court proceedings revealed that the two accused received different outcomes after their appearances before the Bulawayo Magistrates’ Court.

“The first offender pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 6 years imprisonment, of which 2 years were suspended for 5 years,” the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) confirmed.

The second accused was convicted after contesting the charges.

“The second offender was convicted after a full trial and was sentenced to 6 years imprisonment of which 3 years were suspended for 5 years.”

Authorities said the case forms part of wider efforts to tackle illegal drug distribution.

“Individuals engaged in the distribution and possession of dangerous drugs will face the full wrath of the law,” the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said.

“The successful prosecution underscores ongoing efforts to dismantle drug networks and protect communities from the harmful effects of narcotics.”

The case stems from the July 18, 2025 operation, with sentencing details released on 14 April 2026.
