Mbare Woman Tricks Man Twice In One Night, Uses Scam Money To Buy Drugs
A 27-year-old Mbare woman has shared how a quick-money scheme involving a US$10 sex-for-cash deal ended with her being imprisoned at Chikurubi Female Prison.
Leah Chikwekwe told visiting students that she conned the same man twice on the same night at a Harare flat, making US$20 before using the money to buy drugs.
She revealed her story during an awareness visit by students from St Ignatius College, who toured Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison, the Psychiatric Unit and the Female Prison as part of a crime-prevention programme.

How The Scheme Unfolded
According to H-Metro, Chikwekwe said the trouble started when she met a man who wanted to spend time with her and agreed to pay US$10 for sex.
She told the students that she created a plan to trick him by pretending she could provide access to an apartment.
After receiving the money, she allegedly asked the man to wait outside while she checked whether the room was ready.
She then changed her clothes and left the flat through another exit.
After about 30 minutes, Chikwekwe returned and found the man still waiting outside.
According to her account, the man told her he was looking for a woman who resembled her but was wearing different clothes and a hat.
She then allegedly convinced him that she knew where the woman was, but demanded another US$10 to take him there.
Chikwekwe said she led him to another flat before disappearing, leaving the man without what he had paid for.
Drug Abuse Led To Arrest
The Mbare woman told the students that she used the US$20 obtained from the scam to buy drugs for resale.
She said her involvement in drugs eventually led to her arrest and imprisonment, leaving her unable to care for her children or enjoy her freedom.
Reflecting on her experience, Chikwekwe warned students against chasing fast money through illegal activities.
“I urge the students not to be tempted to make quick money through immorality, partying with misbehaving friends, or experimenting with drugs and substances,” she said.
She advised learners to avoid using their pocket money on drugs, saying criminal activities eventually come with consequences.
“I have come to understand that the wrath of the law will always catch up with anyone enjoying the fruits of illicit deals.”
Fellow Inmate Shares Drug Dealing Warning
Another inmate, Lavender Zisengwe, 27, also spoke to the students about how drug-related crimes affected her life.
Zisengwe said prison life comes with strict restrictions, regardless of a person’s background or the offence they committed.
“In prison, you are forced to wear the same clothes no matter your case or background, you must retire to bed before the night and your movement is controlled,” she said.
She urged young people to understand that criminal behaviour can result in losing their freedom and opportunities.
