MCAZ Issues Urgent Recall of Citro Soda Batch
The Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe (MCAZ) has announced the recall of a specific batch of Citro Soda following concerns over possible contamination, raising a public health alert for consumers and healthcare providers.
The affected product is a combination of citric acid, sodium citrate, bicarbonate, and tartaric acid packaged in sachets.

Contamination Concerns Identified
According to the regulator, the recall was triggered after the potential presence of foreign material was detected during an inspection at the manufacturing facility in South Africa.
The product in question, batch number C134584, is produced by Adcock Ingram Limited.

Immediate Action for Health Institutions
Authorities have instructed all licensed wholesalers, pharmacies, and both public and private health institutions to immediately isolate the affected stock.
They are also required to coordinate with suppliers to ensure the product is swiftly removed from circulation, as part of efforts to minimise any potential risk to patients.
Public Urged to Return Affected Products
Consumers who may have purchased the recalled batch are being advised to stop using the product and return it to the point of purchase.
Officials say this step is critical in preventing possible exposure to contaminated medication.
