Eight-Year-Old Girl Miraculously Survives Horror ZCC Bus Crash That Claimed 45 Lives 

In a miraculous turn of events, an eight-year-old girl emerged as the sole survivor of a devastating bus crash that claimed the lives of 45 people.

The tragedy unfolded when the driver lost control of the bus, sending it hurtling off a bridge in a mountainous area of South Africa and into a ravine where it erupted in flames.

The bus was carrying congregants from the ZCC church in Gaborone, Botswana, to the ST Engenas Zion Christian Church (ZCC) in Moria, a small town near Polokwane, for an Easter religious event.

The harrowing incident occurred on the treacherous Mamatlakala mountain pass in South Africa’s Limpopo province. Despite the catastrophic nature of the crash, the young girl miraculously survived.

She was promptly airlifted to a nearby hospital to receive urgent medical treatment. Tragically, another woman who was also airlifted succumbed to her injuries.

Driver Loses Control: Bus Plunges Off Bridge, Bursting into Flames

Transport Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga visited the crash site to assess the situation. Recounting the scene, she stated,

A bus that was pulling a trailer went over the bridge, plummeting into the rocky river. It had about 45 occupants. Only one eight-year-old girl survived. She was transported to the hospital. A lady was airlifted and could not make it. These were the people traveling from Gaborone, Botswana, to the church in Moria.”

Preliminary investigations by the province’s transport department indicate that the driver lost control, causing the bus to plunge onto a rocky surface beneath the bridge before catching fire.

Recovery Efforts Hindered: Bodies Burned Beyond Recognition

Recovering the remains of the deceased proven to be a challenging task for rescue teams.  Some bodies were reportedly severely burned and others were trapped in the wreckage or scattered across the crash site.

Transport Minister Assures Support: Condolences and Repatriation Pledged

Transport Minister Chikunga expressed her heartfelt condolences to the grieving families and the Botswana government. She pledged the support of the South African government in facilitating the repatriation of the victims’ bodies. Chikunga stated,

We want to extend our deepest condolences to the families, the government of Botswana, and the people of Botswana. As South Africa, we will do everything within our power to assist so that they can return to their country and be laid to rest with dignity.”
