Mngqithi: “Maybe There Are Graves at Orlando Stadium”

Orlando Pirates thrashed Golden Arrows 5-0 in the Betway Premiership. They controlled the match from the first whistle.

Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou’s team delivered another powerful attacking performance. They quickly overwhelmed their opponents once again.

Pirates Take Early Control

Coach Mngqithi admitted his young players struggled under pressure. He said the stadium atmosphere affected their performance early.

Moreover, he explained that inexperienced players found it hard to settle.

“I think our younger players, really felt the stress you can feel in this stadium, it’s not an easy stadium for younger players, I don’t know why – maybe there are some graves here somewhere, but it’s not an easy stadium for young players, I can tell you that,” he told journalists.

However, he still praised their effort and development.

“I was excited about these young players, because I’m all about their growth and development but the reality is Pirates were really strong and really wanted this game,” he added.

Intensity Made the Difference

Furthermore, Mngqithi admitted Pirates were stronger throughout the match. He highlighted their hunger and relentless energy.

“But you must also give credit to Pirates, they showed so much hunger, they ran [a lot], even the game we played at home in Durban, the game was 50/50 up until the latter stages of the game, but they really imposed themselves here,” he continued.

As a result, Golden Arrows could not match their intensity.

Looking ahead, Orlando Pirates will face Richards Bay on Friday night at 19:30.
