MP Malinganiso Accuses Malloti and Hulengende of Promoting Drugs and Substance Abuse
Member of Parliament Taurai Dexter Malinganiso has accused popular local musicians Hulengende and Malloti of using their music and social media platforms to promote drug use and explicit behaviour among young people.
Speaking in Parliament, Malinganiso said the trend is alarming, pointing out that artists with large followings have a responsibility to set positive examples for the country’s youth.
Targeting Social Media Influence
The MP emphasized that Hulengende and Malloti, alongside other influencers, are openly normalizing drug and substance abuse on social media. He warned that this content, combined with explicit language, erodes societal values and threatens the moral fabric of the nation.
“This is not just about entertainment; it’s about the kind of influence that shapes our youth and the future of our society,” Malinganiso said.

Call for Accountability
Malinganiso urged regulators, parents, and the entertainment industry to take notice and hold artists accountable for the messages they promote.
He said measures must be taken to protect young people from content that glorifies drugs or undermines ethical standards.
