Opposition leader Job Sikhala has launched a scathing attack on Mduduzi Sibanda. Sikhala accused Sibanda of presenting himself as an opposition figure while allegedly maintaining ZANU-PF ties.
Sibanda was reportedly nominated to represent the opposition in the Bulawayo Ward 1 by-election. However, his nomination has sparked controversy over his alleged political affiliations.
Sikhala questioned how Sibanda could represent the opposition while reportedly remaining a card-carrying ZANU-PF member. The outspoken opposition politician described the situation as a deliberate attempt to mislead voters.
Sikhala Questions Sibanda’s Opposition Credentials
Sikhala did not hold back when responding to Sibanda’s nomination. Instead, he delivered a strongly worded warning against opposition candidates with alleged links to ZANU-PF.
“These skunks come wearing jackets of opposition when they are mere maggots. They have got no shame to try and disguise themselves through getting endorsement from ZANU-PF parrots. This kind of operation is old fashioned. It won’t deceive anyone. Idyai mari dzehutengesi musatisembura!!!”
His remarks reflected growing tensions within Zimbabwe’s opposition political landscape. Sikhala suggested that voters could see through what he described as political deception.
Furthermore, he questioned the credibility of candidates who appear to operate across opposing political camps.
Ward 1 Contest Sparks Political Questions
Sibanda’s reported nomination has now placed his political history under renewed scrutiny. The Bulawayo Ward 1 by-election is therefore attracting attention beyond the ward itself.
For opposition supporters, candidate credibility remains particularly important during an election campaign. Political parties also face pressure to ensure their candidates clearly represent their stated political positions.
Sikhala’s intervention could intensify the debate surrounding Sibanda’s candidacy. It may also force opposition structures to explain the circumstances surrounding his nomination.
