‘My conscience is clear’: Chamisa on life after leaving CCC & MDC

Nelson Chamisa has opened up about his life after leaving the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) and the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC).

The former opposition leader says he has no regrets about walking away from the political structures he once led.

In a statement reflecting on his decision, Chamisa said each passing day strengthens his belief that leaving was the right move.

He also suggested that his political ambitions extend beyond any single party, renewing his focus on his broader vision for Zimbabwe.

“Every single day I wake up, I become more convinced, more satisfied, and more fortified in the knowledge that stepping aside and walking away from the rottenness within CCC/MDCA was the right and best decision.

“My conscience is clear, my perspective is unclouded, and my vision for the road ahead is sharper than ever. I have no regrets.”

Chamisa Says He Has No Regrets

Chamisa’s remarks suggest he remains confident about his decision to leave the political formations associated with his previous leadership.

Moreover, his comments indicate that he believes stepping aside has given him greater clarity about his future direction.

He described his conscience as clear and his perspective as unclouded. He also insisted that his vision for the road ahead had become sharper.

His statement comes as Zimbabwe’s opposition continues to face questions about leadership, unity and the path towards challenging the ruling party.

However, Chamisa did not outline specific political structures or immediate plans in the quoted remarks.

‘The Mission Remains Greater Than Any Political Party’

Despite leaving CCC and MDC, Chamisa signalled that his broader political mission remains alive.

He emphasised that his ambitions go beyond party politics, pointing towards his vision of a government led by citizens.

“The next steps are clearer, and the mission remains greater than any political party. A citizens government in our lifetime! The Citizens shall and will govern.”

The declaration suggests Chamisa wants supporters to focus on his wider political objectives rather than the organisations he has left.

Nevertheless, his statement leaves questions about the practical steps he intends to take next.

For now, Chamisa insists he has no regrets and remains committed to his vision of a citizen-led government in Zimbabwe.
