Chivayo’s Children Were Not On Board
ZimLive reported on Wednesday night that Chivayo’s two children with Madzikanda were not among those travelling on the helicopter.
“Wicknell Chivayo’s two children with ex-wife Sonja Madzikanda were NOT on doomed helicopter that crashed in Marondera today.”
The report added that Chivayo and Muteke were among the six people who died.
The clarification is significant because early reports about the crash did not immediately identify those on board. Zimbabwean authorities initially confirmed only that a helicopter had crashed in Marondera Rural at around 5pm.
Police said six people were aboard the aircraft, while government spokesperson Nick Mangwana confirmed there were no survivors.
Family Details Emerge After Fatal Crash
Chivayo had two children with Madzikanda. In April 2026, reports indicated that the High Court had granted him access to the children.
Chivayo and Muteke were later identified among the victims, with family spokesperson Herbert Chivayo confirming their deaths to ZBC News.
The crash happened in Marondera Rural, southeast of Harare, with investigations expected to establish what caused the helicopter to go down.
