Orlando Pirates dominate PSL Awards as Relebohile Mofokeng steals the spotlight

Orlando Pirates emerged as the biggest winners at the PSL Awards after collecting several major honours.

Leading the celebrations was Relebohile Mofokeng, who enjoyed a memorable evening. The talented 20-year-old claimed three of the ceremony’s biggest awards.

He won the PSL Footballer of the Season award. He also secured the Betway Premiership Players’ Player of the Season prize. In addition, he collected the Betway Premiership Young Player of the Season accolade.

The awards capped an outstanding campaign for the Pirates star. His consistent displays made him one of South Africa’s standout performers.

Pirates stars sweep top honours

Pirates continued their dominance across several categories during the awards ceremony.

Abdeslam Ouaddou received the Betway Premiership Coach of the Season award. Meanwhile, Sipho Chaine walked away with the Goalkeeper of the Season honour.

Lebone Seema claimed the Defender of the Season award. Furthermore, Oswin Appollis earned recognition as the Betway Premiership Midfielder of the Season.

The club also celebrated success in domestic cup competitions. Tshepang Moremi won the MTN8 Last Man Standing award. Mbekezeli Mbokazi added another trophy after securing the Carling Knockout Player of the Tournament prize.

Other PSL award winners announced

Elsewhere, Darren Keet of Durban City collected the Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament award.

TS Galaxy youngster Seluleko Mahlambi won the Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player of the Tournament honour.

Cape Town City also enjoyed an impressive night in the Motsepe Foundation Championship categories.

Emile Witbooi claimed the Players’ Player of the Season award. Gabriel Amato won the Young Player of the Season accolade. Mickey van der Hart completed the trio after taking Goalkeeper of the Season.

Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns youngster Bennet Mokoena earned the DStv Diski Challenge Player of the Season award.

The PSL also honoured its match officials. Euguene Mdluli won Referee of the Year. Nandipha Menze claimed the Assistant Referee of the Season award.
