Orlando Pirates set to run a dangerous gauntlet

Orlando Pirates crave the league crown this season. However, several dangerous obstacles still block their path to glory.

Pirates Face a Crucial February

Pirates remain in pole position after beating AmaZulu. Relebohile Mofokeng inspired that vital victory. However, February could define their entire title challenge. Indeed, the coming fixtures may decide everything.

They face a packed and demanding schedule:

Sat, 14 Feb: Pirates vs Gallants, 15:30
Wed, 18 Feb: Pirates vs Sundowns, 19:30
Sat, 28 Feb: Chiefs vs Pirates, 15:30

First, they meet Gallants at home. Next, they host defending champions Sundowns. Finally, they travel to face fierce rivals Kaizer Chiefs. Therefore, every match carries massive pressure.

Pirates Target Ndah Replacement

Meanwhile, the club is planning for the future. “Orlando Pirates have expressed an interest in signing the versatile 21-year-old AmaZulu defender Wandile Dube,” iDiski Times reported.

Management sees Dube as a long-term solution. He could replace Nigerian star Olisa Ndah. He may also fill the gap left by Mbekezeli Mbokazi.

At the same time, Monnapule Saleng has left permanently. He joined Sundowns after his loan at Orbit College. Consequently, Pirates must strengthen their squad depth quickly.

Who Replaces Lebitso at Right-Back?

Thabiso Lebitso now faces time out with injury. He suffered the setback against Marumo Gallants in December. As a result, coach Ouaddou must adjust his plans.

Lebitso played 1,121 minutes this season. In contrast, Deano Van Rooyen has managed only 309 minutes. Meanwhile, Kamogelo Sebelebele has played 1,044 minutes.

Sebelebele offers versatility on the right side. However, fans do not always see him as first choice. Still, he proved his value last season. He scored in both MTN8 semi-final legs against Sundowns.

Therefore, Ouaddou faces a difficult but crucial decision.
