Pitso Mosimane Breaks Silence on Kaizer Chiefs Links, Insists He Won’t Apply for the Job
Renowned coach Pitso Mosimane has spoken out amid growing speculation linking him to the Kaizer Chiefs top job, making it clear that he will not apply for the position unless the club presents a compelling long-term vision.
Speaking on Game On with Thabiso Mosia on Radio 2000, Mosimane stressed that at this stage of his career, he only considers offers that align with his coaching philosophy and professional standards.
“You must remember that at the point I am, I don’t apply for jobs — and that’s not being egoistic. It’s about the plan, and you must show me the plan,” Mosimane said.

‘I Have Options — But It Must Be Proper and Challenging’
According to Goal.com, Mosimane confirmed that he continues to receive interest from clubs across Africa and the Gulf region, suggesting that his next move could be imminent.
“As I’m talking to you today, there’s a possibility that anytime from now I might have a club. Almost every second week, there’s a team that’s available and asks if we can work together.
“I mean, you can’t tell me that in Africa, there’s no team I can’t coach, and even in the Gulf region I do have options, but it must be proper and challenging for me,” he revealed.
Open to Coaching in South Africa Again — Under the Right Conditions
While heavily linked to Kaizer Chiefs by fans desperate for a seasoned leader, Mosimane made it clear he would return to coach in South Africa only if a club presents a convincing and strategic long-term plan.
“I can’t say I will never coach again at home. I will coach any team in the country that shows me why I need to come here and what you would bring to the table,” he said.
He added that proper introspection is needed from any club seeking his expertise:
“Because I can also ask, what have you been doing, why are we where we are, where can we accept our shortfalls and how do we address that to get better? Not today or tomorrow — but it takes time.”
‘You Must Have a Plan’ — Lessons from His Career
Mosimane highlighted his long, successful spells at SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns as proof of the importance of long-term club strategy.
“Brendan Rodgers talked about a three-year plan and I was laughing and I said in the UK yes, but we can have a plan because I was at Sundowns for eight years and SuperSport United for six years, and you must have a plan,” he concluded.
Chiefs Still Searching for Stability
Kaizer Chiefs have been without a permanent head coach since parting ways with Nasreddine Nabi nearly three months ago.
His former assistants, Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze, were tasked with leading the team through the remainder of the 2025–26 season.
