Police Investigate Gift Amuli Over US$4,000 Stand Scam

Sungura musician Gift Amuli is under police investigation following allegations that he fraudulently exchanged a non-existent residential stand for a vehicle valued at US$4,000.

Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed that a fraud case involving a local musician is being investigated. Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza said the suspect allegedly misrepresented that he owned a residential stand at a farm in Seke in July 2025.

Police said the complainant surrendered her vehicle after being led to believe the property existed. The total value of the alleged prejudice is US$4,000.

Car Allegedly Exchanged for Residential Stand

The complainant, 39-year-old Memory Kubungaidze of Budiriro, claims she entered into an agreement with the musician to swap her VW Golf Carravela Wagon for the stand.

According to her account, the deal was presented as a straightforward exchange, with the property allegedly located in Seke.

Suspicions Raised After Communication Cut Off

Kubungaidze said she became concerned when the musician allegedly stopped responding to her calls shortly after the vehicle changed hands. Attempts to follow up reportedly yielded no success.

She further claims that when she sought clarification from his wife, she was told she had no knowledge of the arrangement.

Stand Could Not Be Verified

In a bid to confirm ownership details, Kubungaidze approached Seke Rural District Council officials. She was allegedly informed that the address provided did not match any stand within the council’s records.

The matter was subsequently reported at Machipisa Police Station, and investigations are ongoing.
