Police Probe Suspected Murder-Suicide After Couple Found Dead in Mahusekwa

A tragic incident has shocked residents of Mahusekwa after a suspected murder-suicide claimed the lives of a husband and wife.

Police in Mashonaland East believe a 52-year-old man allegedly killed his 50-year-old wife after a domestic dispute. He then reportedly took his own life.

The heartbreaking incident happened in Mureverwi Village under Chief Nenguwo.

Investigators suspect the couple argued over alleged infidelity before the fatal attack.

Daughter discovers tragic scene

The couple’s 13-year-old daughter reportedly made the devastating discovery after returning home from school.

Mashonaland East police spokesperson Inspector Simon Chazovachiyi confirmed the incident.

He said: “The accused person, Patrick Chamunorwa (52), who was staying in South Africa, returned home this month of July, 2026.

“Since his return, he had been having domestic disputes with his wife (Doreen Bvuta) over infidelity issues.

“On July 20, 2026, around 5 pm, a daughter of the now deceased came back from school and entered the bedroom.

“She discovered the body of her mother in a pool of blood. She also noticed a hammer which was near her mother’s body. The daughter also noticed her father’s body hanging from the roof.”

Police launch investigations

Following the discovery, the girl alerted Tayengwa Kanengoni, who quickly reported the matter to police.

Officers responded to the scene and opened an investigation into the suspected murder-suicide.

Meanwhile, Inspector Chazovachiyi said authorities continue gathering evidence surrounding the incident.

He added that police transferred both bodies to Mahusekwa District Hospital mortuary.

Doctors will conduct post-mortem examinations as investigations continue.
