Rachel Kolisi has hinted at private struggles following her divorce from Springbok captain Siya Kolisi. The mother of two will soon travel nationwide with her Falling Forward roadshow. The tour includes a motivational talk and a documentary screening of the same name.
Her career rebrand follows Siya’s public relationship with his new partner, Rachel John. Earlier this year, Siya visited Victoria Falls with his younger girlfriend. Notably, he previously honeymooned there with Rachel Kolisi a decade earlier.
Reclaiming Identity After Divorce
Speaking on Gqeberha radio station Algoa FM, Rachel explained the motivation behind Falling Forward. She also discussed her documentary, roadshow, and upcoming memoir. Rachel revealed she is reclaiming her identity after a very public divorce.
She said: “My identity over the last 10 years has been tied to something I believed would last forever. And so my work, my family, and everything important to me…I was investing all of what I had into this thing [marriage], and then this thing didnt work out, and it broke.”
Rachel added that her world felt “shattered” and “turned upside down” after the split. However, she stressed that the public story was incomplete.
“There is a lot that happened last year that people know nothing about. That shifts you as a human being, friends and family members. There are so many moving parts…I’m incredibly proud of how I moved through that process.”
Falling Forward Roadshow And Memoir Release
Rachel acknowledged the emotional cost of sharing her story publicly. She said: “I get that it is controversial. There is a fine line between being honest….and sharing too much. This process that I’ve come through, I’ve never felt more isolated and alone in the decisions that I’ve had to make.”
She added: “I’m choosing to be brave and share a loss that has not been brought to the public”.
The Falling Forward roadshow will run across several cities nationwide. The dates include Makhanda, Gqeberha, Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town.
In March, Rachel will also release her memoir titled Falling Forward. She says the book is “more detailed” than the documentary.
