Rainbow Towers and HICC Refurbishments Redefine Zimbabwe’s Luxury Hospitality
Harare’s golden icon, the Rainbow Towers Hotel & Conference Centre (RTHCC), continues to define luxury and prestige in Zimbabwe’s capital.
Standing tall as a five-star landmark, the hotel represents excellence, sophistication, and security—making it the country’s ultimate business and conferencing destination.
As part of its commitment to reposition Zimbabwe as a competitive destination for global hospitality and conferencing, the Rainbow Tourism Group (RTG) invested US$5.2 million in refurbishing its flagship Rainbow Towers Hotel and the Harare International Convention Centre (HICC).
Transforming Hospitality Through Strategic Investment
This milestone forms part of RTG’s broader US$26 million capital investment programme over the past five years. The initiative aims to enhance quality, efficiency, and international appeal across all RTG properties.
The extensive refurbishment has elevated both the hotel and the convention centre to world-class standards, reaffirming RTG’s dedication to setting new benchmarks in regional hospitality.
Rainbow Towers: Redefining Modern Elegance
Three floors of the Rainbow Towers Hotel were redesigned to introduce six premium suites, increasing the total to ten exclusive suites. Each suite features two en-suite bedrooms, a private lounge, a dining area, a kitchenette, and a guest bathroom—crafted to meet the expectations of high-profile delegations and executive guests.
An additional 48 guest rooms were modernised with a minimalist design, blending soft neutral tones and Zimbabwean artistry. The result is a serene environment tailored for both business and leisure travellers, combining smart amenities with sustainable materials.
HICC: Africa’s Leading Colosseum-Style Venue Reimagined
The Harare International Convention Centre (HICC), renowned as the largest colosseum-style venue in Africa with a 4,500-seat capacity, underwent a major modernisation.
Upgrades include ergonomic seating with charging ports, advanced acoustic systems, and cutting-edge digital conferencing technology, aligning the venue with modern hybrid event requirements.
These enhancements further cement HICC’s position as Zimbabwe’s leading venue for regional summits, international conventions, and high-level State engagements.
Leadership Perspective: Breathing New Life into an Icon
RTG Chief Executive Tendai Madziwanyika praised the refurbishment of the Rainbow Towers Hotel & Conference Centre, saying it has “breathed new life into the hotel.” He highlighted that the upgrades combine timeless comfort with a modern twist, noting the positive impact on occupancy levels.
“The refashioning of the Rainbow Towers Hotel & Conference Centre has breathed new life into the hotel.
“It offers timeless comfort with a modern twist. We have seen the positive impact of this investment as occupancy has grown considerably. We are optimistic about the future performance of this hotel, positioning Zimbabwe as a premier destination for regional and international meetings and conferences,” said Tendai Madziwanyika.
Luxury Meets Tranquility
What distinguishes Rainbow Towers is not just its grandeur, but also its serene, secure estate environment away from Harare’s bustling Central Business District.
Guests can enjoy a dedicated running track, well-manicured gardens, and open-air spaces for wellness and relaxation—a perfect blend of productivity and peace.
Festive Season Campaign: ‘Fun Under the Rainbow’
As the festive season approaches, RTG invites travellers to celebrate under the theme “Fun Under the Rainbow.”
The promotion offers families, couples, and friends an opportunity to unwind and reconnect through exclusive festive packages across RTG hotels.
The Group’s tour operations arm, Heritage Expeditions Africa (HEXA), enhances the experience by offering full-spectrum travel services, including luxury transfers, multilingual guides, game drives, heritage tours, quad biking, and private tailor-made adventures.
