Kaizer Chiefs have reached the midpoint of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership with their season finely balanced. So far, the team has completed 15 league matches. In addition, domestic and continental competitions increased their total to 25 games. Results have fluctuated under co-coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze. However, the campaign has revealed which players consistently drive Amakhosi’s performances.
KAIZER CHIEFS’ MOST IMPORTANT PLAYERS
Only two players have featured in all 25 matches this season. Mduduzi Shabalala and Zitha Kwinikha have played across every competition without missing a game. Their availability proved vital during a demanding and congested schedule.
Meanwhile, captain Brandon Petersen has made 23 appearances this season. His leadership strengthened a more organised defensive structure. Notably, Petersen recorded 10 clean sheets before the mid-season break. Defender Inacio Miguel follows closely with 22 appearances. His presence ensured stability and discipline at the back.
TEAM OUTPUT AND CONTINENTAL FOCUS
In the league, Kaizer Chiefs collected 30 points from 15 matches. They sit five points behind leaders Orlando Pirates. Importantly, eight wins and one defeat kept them in the title race.
However, cup competitions brought disappointment. Stellenbosch FC eliminated Amakhosi from the Carling Knockout Cup on penalties.
Later, Stellies ended their Nedbank Cup run with a 2-1 victory. Attention has now shifted to the CAF Confederation Cup. Back-to-back 1-0 wins over ZESCO United revived qualification hopes.
As a result, Chiefs sit second in Group D with seven points. Zamalek lead the group with eight after beating Al Masry 2-1. Next, Chiefs host Al Masry at the Peter Mokaba Stadium. Finally, they travel to Cairo to face Zamalek next Sunday.
