Ras Pompy Granted Bail After Spending Weekend in Remand Prison Over Drug Possession Charges
Zimdancehall star Ras Pompy was recently arrested for unlawful possession of drugs.
Authorities found him with a large stash of over-the-counter cough syrups commonly abused as narcotics.
He appeared before Harare magistrate Gamuchirai Gore last week, facing charges of violating the Medicines and Allied Substances Control Act, and was remanded in custody.
According to H-Metro, Ras Pompy was granted US$100 bail today after spending the weekend in remand prison.

Police Chase Ends in Crash
It is in the State’s case that on July 16, 2025, around 11AM. Detectives from the CID Drugs Harare spotted a black Honda Fit (registration AGS 6699) stuck in traffic along Kambuzuma Road.
The vehicle was reportedly flagged in police records as one suspected of distributing drugs around Harare.
Police officers signalled for Ras Pompy to pull over, but instead of complying, he allegedly sped off toward Rugare suburb. A high-speed pursuit followed, which ended when he crashed into a metal pole.

Cough Syrup Worth Nearly US$400 Recovered
Upon apprehending Ras Pompy, detectives searched his vehicle and discovered around 100 bottles of the cough syrups, with a combined street value estimated at US$396.
The haul included 24 bottles of Broncleer, 20 bottles of Benylin, and 55 bottles of Astra Pain cough syrup — all in 100ml quantities.
Both the drugs and the vehicle were seized as evidence, and the artist was taken to CID Drugs Harare for processing.
