Kaizer Chiefs have received a favourable CAF Confederation Cup draw as they target another deep continental run.
Amakhosi will skip the opening preliminary round after Congo-Brazzaville failed to register a representative.
As a result, Chiefs will begin their campaign in the second preliminary round. They now need to overcome one opponent to reach the group stage.
Chiefs face Red Arrows or FC Rouge
Chiefs will meet either Zambia’s Red Arrows or Madagascar’s FC Rouge in their opening tie.
The two sides will first clash during the weekend of 4-6 September. Their battle will determine Chiefs’ next continental opponent.
Meanwhile, Amakhosi must wait until October before entering this season’s competition.
The first leg will take place between 16 and 18 October. The return match will follow between 23 and 25 October.
Chiefs will enter their second straight Confederation Cup campaign. However, they will want a better outcome after last season’s group-stage disappointment.
Durban City begin continental adventure
Elsewhere, Durban City face a challenging first-round assignment against Burundi’s Rukinzo.
The newcomers earned their continental opportunity after winning the 2026 Nedbank Cup.
Therefore, Durban City will experience African competition for the first time in their history.
They will now aim to follow several South African clubs that recently reached the group stage.
Chiefs, Marumo Gallants and Stellenbosch FC have all achieved that feat in recent seasons.
Durban City will hope their maiden campaign produces a similar breakthrough.
