Richard Ngarava Bags Player of the Match Award After Four-Wicket Heroics
Richard Ngarava delivered a superb bowling display to inspire Zimbabwe to victory over Bangladesh in the opening T20 International at Queens Sports Club, earning the Player of the Match award for his match-winning performance.
The left-arm seamer finished with outstanding figures of 4 for 26 as the Chevrons successfully defended a total of 170 for 6, securing a 32-run win and taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
Ngarava Leads Zimbabwe’s Bowling Charge
Ngarava played a decisive role in breaking Bangladesh’s chase by removing four batters, including top scorer Yasir Ali, whose aggressive half-century had briefly kept the visitors in contention.
Yasir struck 54 from 38 deliveries, hitting two boundaries and three sixes before Ngarava returned to dismiss him at a crucial stage of the innings.
The breakthrough halted Bangladesh’s hopes of mounting a late comeback and swung the match firmly in Zimbabwe’s favour.

Pace Duo Too Strong for Bangladesh
Ngarava received excellent support from fellow fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani as Zimbabwe’s pace attack dominated throughout the innings.
The two seamers combined for eight wickets, helping bowl Bangladesh out for 138 in 18.6 overs.
Ngarava’s victims also included Saif Hassan, Tanzid Hasan and Mohammad Saifuddin, giving him his second four-wicket haul in T20 internationals.
His pace, bounce and accuracy consistently troubled the Bangladesh batting line-up on a lively Queens Sports Club surface.

Award Caps Outstanding Display
The Player of the Match honour crowned another impressive performance by Ngarava, who has continued to play a leading role with the ball during Bangladesh’s tour of Zimbabwe.
