DJ Sumbody, whose real name was Oupa John Sefoka, was gunned down in a hail of bullets during the early hours of 20 November 2022 in Woodmead, Johannesburg. The violent attack, described by police as a well-planned hit, also claimed the life of one of his bodyguards.

The same trio also face charges for the attempted murder of actress and socialite Tebogo Thobejane in a separate incident, which was allegedly planned by her ex-boyfriend, Vusimusi “Cat” Matlala.
