Save the Children is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Finance Coordinator to join our Zimbabwe Country Office team. This pivotal role supports the Finance Director in leading the financial direction and coordination of activities across both development and emergency programmes.

Role Purpose

The Finance Coordinator will oversee financial planning and analysis, compliance, budgeting, reporting, and staff development. The role requires a strategic thinker with strong donor management knowledge, capable of ensuring robust financial management aligned with organizational and donor requirements. This role includes significant safeguarding responsibilities, with frequent interaction with children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Planning & Analysis (60%): Lead the annual CAP budget development, manage proposal budgeting, oversee CAM cost allocations, and provide monthly variance analysis to senior management.

  • Sub-Award & Partner Financial Management (10%): Ensure donor compliance for sub-awards, build capacity in sub-award financial procedures, and review partner budgets.

  • Financial Accounting & Control (20%): Maintain strong financial control systems, ensure timely reporting to donors and regulatory bodies, support audit processes, and manage treasury operations.

  • Staff Development & Leadership (10%): Supervise and mentor finance staff, manage performance and training, and embed a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Child Safeguarding

This position is Level 3 in Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding framework. The postholder must uphold the highest standards of child protection and ensure that safeguarding measures are integrated into budgeting and financial operations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field

  • Professional qualification: CA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent

  • At least 7 years in finance, with 3 years at a senior management level in an NGO or corporate setting

  • Strong knowledge of donor reporting (USAID, ECHO, NORAD, DFID, EU, etc.)

  • Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., Agresso), Excel, budgeting tools, and donor compliance

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage workloads, and meet tight deadlines
