Scottland FC Eyes Big Statement Against Kaizer Chiefs In Toyota Cup Clash
Scottland FC say they are fully prepared for Sunday’s Toyota Cup clash against South African giants Kaizer Chiefs in Rustenburg.
The highly anticipated one-off encounter will provide both clubs with valuable preparation ahead of demanding campaigns, with Chiefs gearing up for the new Betway Premiership season while Scottland fine-tune their squad before making their CAF Champions League debut.

Club sees match as valuable learning experience
Scottland spokesperson George Munengwa said facing one of South Africa’s biggest clubs is a significant milestone for the Harare-based side, which was only established three years ago.
“We are happy as a club which is three years old that we are going to be playing Kaizer Chiefs in Rustenburg,” he said.
He said the club was honoured to be invited to the Toyota Cup and viewed the fixture as an opportunity to measure itself against an experienced opponent while continuing to build relationships with established clubs in the region.
Munengwa revealed that Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung recently visited Scottland’s facilities in Harare and was impressed by the club’s investment in infrastructure despite its relatively young age.
He added that Scottland hopes to use such partnerships to accelerate its growth and become one of the region’s leading clubs over the next decade.
Focus shifts to continental football
Scottland heads into the match as Zimbabwe’s defending league champions and will represent the country in the 2026/27 CAF Champions League, which begins in August.
The club has already established working relationships with South African sides AmaZulu and Mamelodi Sundowns.
One of the benefits of that partnership has been the arrival of defender Emmanuel Jalai, who is on loan from AmaZulu.
Munengwa said Sunday’s encounter would provide an important indication of the standards the team must reach before competing against Africa’s elite clubs.
