Redcliff Explosion: Security Guard Dies, Several Houses Damaged
A security guard died following a powerful explosion at a Buchwa Iron Mining Company (BIMCO) explosives storage facility in Redcliff early Sunday.
The blast caused extensive damage to properties across several suburbs, shattering windows, collapsing ceilings and damaging buildings.
Preliminary investigations by the Civil Protection Unit suggest that the explosion may have been linked to an attempted theft of explosives, although the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.

Security Guard Found With Hands Tied
The security guard was reportedly found with his hands tied at the scene following the explosion.

Mayor Warns Of Further Danger
Redcliff Mayor, His Worship Alderman S. V. Masiiwa, has cautioned residents against visiting the scene of the explosion, warning that the area remains unsafe.
According to the mayor, unexploded remnants may still be present at the site and could detonate, putting anyone who approaches the area at risk.
Residents have been urged to keep away while investigations and safety operations are carried out.
Residents Urged To Report Property Damage
The explosion damaged properties in several suburbs of Redcliff, leaving homes with shattered windows, collapsed ceilings and other structural damage.
Affected residents have been asked to submit details of their losses to the local authority to assist with documenting the damage caused by the blast.
Residents have also been urged to cooperate with authorities and avoid the affected area until it is declared safe.
