Harare is preparing for a major gospel gathering this weekend, featuring Nigerian stars Sinach and Victor Thompson.
The worship concert will also bring together several prominent Zimbabwean gospel artistes.
Organisers have chosen “Arise” as the event’s central theme for the highly anticipated gathering.
The theme draws from the biblical message: “Arise and shine, for your light has come.”
Nigerian stars join Zimbabwean gospel talent
Victor Thompson will make his first Zimbabwean appearance at the concert.
Meanwhile, Sinach will headline an event designed to unite gospel musicians and worshippers.
Local performers will also add significant star power to the impressive line-up.
They include Bonnie Deuschle and Celebration Choir, Joyful Praise Choir, Eleana Makombe and Janet Manyowa.
Ellard and Sharon Cherayi will also bring their musical partnership to the stage.
Pastor Lincoln Kapswara, the event organiser, outlined the diverse line-up ahead of the concert.
He said: “We have an amazing array of local artists, and we also have a guest artist, Victor Thompson from Nigeria. He’ll also be joining us for the first time in Zimbabwe. Then locally, we’ve got Bonnie Deuschle and Celebration Choir, Joyful Praise Choir, Eleana Makombe, Janet Manyowa, and we’ve got the power couple, Ellard and Sharon Cherayi.
“So we really believe it’s going to be a really powerful time. The theme ‘Arise’ is also connected to Sinach’s new song and album, but the message for Zimbabwe specifically is that it’s time for us to arise and shine, for our light has come.
Concert aims to showcase Zimbabwe
Beyond worship, organisers want the gathering to strengthen relationships between local and international artistes.
They also hope visiting musicians will discover Zimbabwe’s culture, music and tourism attractions.
Kapswara explained that the event will create valuable opportunities for musical interaction and collaboration.
He said: “We also want them to interact with local music, meet with some of our local artists and collaborate, but also get to enjoy the beauty of Zimbabwe. So we want to make sure that, from a tourism perspective, they also get to experience what Zimbabwe has to offer,”
The concert therefore combines worship, music, collaboration and cultural exchange.
Organisers expect the international guests to connect with Zimbabwean artistes throughout the weekend.
At the same time, local performers will gain an opportunity to share the stage with major gospel names.
