Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Sipho Chaine has reached a major milestone in the club’s history. The goalkeeper achieved the feat during Pirates’ 2-0 victory over Marumo Gallants.
The match was played at the Orlando Amstel Arena, with Pirates collecting another crucial three points. Kabelo Kgositsile and Nkosinathi Sibisi scored as the Buccaneers closed the gap on Mamelodi Sundowns. Pirates now sit just one point behind the league leaders.
However, they still have a game in hand over Sundowns. A victory in that outstanding fixture would send the Buccaneers back to the top.
Chaine reaches 100 wins faster than any Pirates player
According to OptaJabu, the Gallants victory marked Chaine’s 100th win for Orlando Pirates.
That achievement also created a new club record.
Chaine became the fastest Pirates player to reach 100 competitive victories. The goalkeeper reached the milestone after just 152 official appearances for the Buccaneers. His record is even more impressive considering his defensive numbers.
Chaine has conceded 90 goals across those 152 competitive matches. He has also recorded 72 clean sheets during his time with the club.

Deon Hotto and Lucky Lekgwathi trail Chaine
Veteran winger Deon Hotto previously held the faster mark before Chaine surpassed it. Hotto needed 186 official appearances to record his 100th Pirates victory. He reached that milestone in May 2025.
Former Pirates captain Lucky Lekgwathi took considerably longer to achieve the same feat. Lekgwathi needed 213 official matches before claiming his 100th victory. He reached that landmark in November 2010.
Chaine has therefore reached the century mark significantly earlier than both Pirates legends. The goalkeeper’s latest achievement adds another milestone to his growing career at Orlando Pirates.
