Six Lives Lost In Separate Road Crashes As ZRP Issues Fresh Warning
Two separate road accidents claimed six lives on Zimbabwe’s roads on Tuesday, 11 August 2026, with police revealing that one vehicle was carrying 29 passengers while another had seven.
29 Passengers Caught In Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Crash
The first accident happened at about 4.30pm at the 279km peg along the Bulawayo–Victoria Falls Road.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said a Mazda T35 carrying congregants from an apostolic church allegedly lost control before leaving the road and crashing into a river bank.
Four passengers died at the scene, while 12 others were injured. The deceased were taken to Hwange Colliery Mortuary for post-mortem examinations.
The ZRP said:
“A motorist who was driving a Mazda T35 carrying 29 passengers, who were congregants of an apostolic church, allegedly lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road before crashing into the river bank.”
Two More Die in Harare- Bulawayo Road Crash
The second accident occurred at the 146km peg along the Harare–Bulawayo Road.
A Honda Fit carrying seven passengers was involved in a head-on collision with a Toyota Hilux. The Honda Fit overturned and landed on its roof.
Four passengers suffered severe injuries. Two later died after being admitted to Kadoma General Hospital.
The police urged motorists to exercise caution and avoid carrying more passengers than their vehicles are designed to accommodate.
The ZRP said:
“Motorists must avoid carrying passengers beyond the stipulated capacity of their vehicles.”
The two crashes left six people dead and several others injured.
