St David’s Bonda Girls’ High School Teacher On The Run Over Student Sexual Abuse Allegations

Married Teacher Flees As Manicaland Boarding School Abuse Scandal Erupts

A teacher at St David’s Bonda Girls’ High School has fled his home and gone into hiding after multiple students came forward with harrowing sexual abuse allegations, triggering a manhunt across Manicaland province. Anesu Mautsa, 48, a married father of three, is wanted by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) following claims he preyed on learners at the elite mission school.

Tinted Vehicle Exposed As Alleged Mobile Love Nest

Investigators have gathered disturbing accounts from several boarders who claim Mautsa would lure them into his vehicle, which has heavily tinted windows, before driving to secluded spots within the school premises. Science laboratories were also allegedly used for the illicit encounters.

Police believe the pattern of abuse continued for an undisclosed period until the teacher was reportedly caught in a compromising situation with one of the learners. The incident triggered other victims to step forward and detail their ordeals.

According to H-Metro, the School Development Committee (SDC) wasted no time in alerting parents and guardians to the developing crisis.

“The School Development Committee (SDC) has since issued a statement to parents and guardians over the matter saying it is now under police investigation,” H-Metro reports.

Alarmingly, the alleged abuse is said to have occurred without any form of protection being used.

Commissioner Nyathi Confirms Active Manhunt

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi addressed the media on Thursday, 26 June 2026, confirming that officers are working around the clock to track down the fugitive educator.

“Police are appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of a teacher believed to have been sexually abusing students in Manicaland province. Investigations have since begun,” Commissioner Nyathi said.

Authorities are urging anyone with knowledge of Mautsa’s whereabouts to contact their nearest police station. Fears are mounting that the suspect may attempt to cross into neighbouring Mozambique given his prolonged disappearance.

School Reactivates Safety Measures Amid Outrage

Bonda Girls High School has moved swiftly to contain the fallout, announcing a raft of emergency interventions aimed at preventing future violations. The institution confirmed it is overhauling its security infrastructure and bringing back its Child Protection Committee.

“Bonda Girls High School says it is reviewing security measures, strengthening counselling services and reactivating its Child Protection Committee to keep learners safe,” the school stated.

Traumatised learners are now receiving psychological support while parents demand answers about how the alleged abuse went undetected. The incident has reignited national debate about safeguarding protocols at boarding schools across Zimbabwe.

The search for Anesu Mautsa remains active and police have warned that anyone found harbouring the suspect will face criminal charges.
