Zimbabwe’s revered gospel duo, Pastor Charles and Mai Olivia Charamba, collectively known as The Charambas, celebrated a monumental thirty years in music with a breathtaking show of thirty classic songs, all selected by their devoted followers.
The event, held in Harare this past weekend, was less a concert and more a spiritual homecoming, affirming the couple’s unshakeable position at the pinnacle of the gospel scene. The venue was filled to capacity, with the energy of the audience testifying to the profound impact the Charambas have had over their long and distinguished career.
The unique concept for the celebration was a heartfelt tribute to the fans who have supported them since their beginning. Their daughter, Shalom Charamba, who masterminded the event, explained how the musical journey was curated. She revealed,
“The 30 songs that were performed were picked by the fans through social media platforms. These were thirty songs from the Charambas’ catalogue, spanning from 1995 to 2025.”

The evening was a true family affair, commencing with a soul-stirring performance from the couple’s daughter, Eternity Charamba, demonstrating the powerful legacy of faith being passed to a new generation. The event also transformed into a who’s who of Zimbabwean gospel, with stellar appearances from beloved artists including Janet Manyowa, Minister Benny Hadassah Muzanamombe, and Pastor Tinashe Murigo.
The collective presence of these stars was a powerful homage to the Charambas’ influence and trailblazing path in the industry. The group Voices of Triumph further electrified the atmosphere with their powerful harmonies during the interludes, ensuring the spiritual momentum never waned.

As the couple took to the stage, the air was thick with emotion. The opening chords of beloved anthems like ‘Machira Chete’ and ‘Nyika Zimbabwe’ sent waves of fervent sing-alongs through the crowd, with many moved to dance and others to quiet, joyful tears.
The performance was a powerful walk down memory lane, yet it also highlighted the enduring freshness of their spirit-led music. Away from the microphone, the couple’s reputation for integrity shone as brightly as their stage presence. The launch also served to introduce their latest project, a trilogy of albums released this year to mark the occasion. Shalom Charamba confirmed,
“This year, they released three albums with thirty songs in total, to celebrate their thirty years in music.”
