Jub Jub Arrested Over Alleged Kidnapping and Shooting in Edenvale

TV presenter and rapper Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye has been arrested in Edenvale on the East Rand following allegations that he kidnapped and opened fire on an e-hailing driver during a dispute linked to a personal relationship.

Police confirmed that the arrest took place on Sunday morning, 14 June 2026, after officers responded swiftly to the reported incident.

Alleged Confrontation Over Relationship

According to Gauteng police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko, the incident began when Maarohanye allegedly confronted an e-hailing driver over claims that the driver was involved in a romantic relationship with his girlfriend.

The confrontation is said to have escalated quickly, leading to a violent encounter.

Allegations of Kidnapping and Gunfire

Police allege that Maarohanye forced the driver into his vehicle and prevented him from leaving. During the incident, it is further alleged that he discharged a firearm in the direction of the driver.

Despite the shooting, the driver managed to escape unharmed and drove to a nearby police station to report the matter.

Authorities said officers acted immediately after the complaint was filed and arrested Maarohanye shortly afterwards. Investigations into the full circumstances of the incident are ongoing.

Court Appearance Expected

Maarohanye is expected to appear before the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 15 June 2026.

Previous Legal History

The arrest comes after Maarohanye’s previous legal battles, including serious charges that were withdrawn in July 2024.

He had previously faced 13 charges, including rape, attempted murder, and assault relating to allegations made by actress Amanda du-Pont and other women involving incidents said to have occurred between 2006 and 2009.

After the allegations resurfaced publicly in 2022, additional women also came forward, prompting renewed legal attention at the time. Maarohanye later handed himself over to police after a warrant of arrest was issued and was released on bail.

However, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) later withdrew the charges, stating that there were no reasonable prospects of a successful prosecution.

Investigation Continues

Police say the latest case remains under investigation as authorities gather more evidence surrounding the alleged kidnapping and shooting incident in Edenvale.
