Two Arrested in Bulawayo Over Illegal Alcohol Brewing Operation

Police in Bulawayo have shut down an illegal alcohol production setup operating out of a residential flat in the central business district, arresting two suspects in the process.

The suspects — a man and a woman — were picked up during a raid carried out on Wednesday and are now in custody at Drill Hall Police Station. They are expected to appear in court once processing is complete.

Significant Haul Recovered in Raid

According to The Chronicle, Law enforcement officers confiscated a range of items believed to have been used in the production and packaging of illicit alcohol.

The seized materials include brewing equipment, drums filled with ethanol, and hundreds of bottles containing suspected homemade liquor. Police also recovered empty bottles and branded stickers, allegedly used to package the drinks for distribution.

Operation Hidden in Plain Sight

The illicit activity is said to have been taking place at a flat along Josiah Tongogara Street and 2nd Avenue, raising concerns about how the operation managed to function within a busy residential area.

Authorities say the setup appeared to be relatively organised, suggesting possible wider distribution beyond the immediate location.

Further Investigations Underway

Police are continuing investigations to determine the scale of the operation and whether more individuals may be linked to the illegal brewing network.

The suspects remain in custody as the case moves toward court proceedings.
