RTG Nyanga Mountain Valley Marathon and Music Festival Draws 1,500 Athletes Ahead Of September Debut
The inaugural Nyanga Mountain Valley Marathon and Music Festival is shaping up for a major debut, with more than 1,500 athletes already registered for the event scheduled for 26 September 2026 at Montclair Resort in Nyanga.
The event, which is being hosted by Rainbow Tourism Group (RTG), will combine road running with wellness, tourism and entertainment, giving participants and visitors an opportunity to experience the Eastern Highlands beyond the sporting programme.
The event is being held under the theme “Run, Breathe, Celebrate”, reflecting its combination of athletics and entertainment.
Four Race Categories On The Programme
Organisers have lined up four races for participants, namely the 3km Fun Run, 5km, 10km and 21km half-marathon.
The 21km race carries the biggest cash prizes, with both male and female winners set to receive US$750 each. The second-placed runners will receive US$500, while third place comes with US$350.
There is also an Elderly category in the 21km race, with the first male and female finishers in that category set to receive US$250 each.
The 10km race will also reward both male and female participants, with US$300 for first place, US$200 for second and US$150 for third.
Hotel Stays And Meal Vouchers Up For Grabs
Beyond the cash prizes, participants can also win hospitality packages at RTG hotels of their choice.
The 21km winners will receive a combination of accommodation and meal benefits, including a two-night stay for two people on dinner, bed and breakfast (DBB) for first place and a two-night bed-and-breakfast (BB) package for second place.
Third place and the 21km Elderly winners will receive meal vouchers for two people.
The 10km winner will also receive a two-night BB stay for two people, while the 5km category will offer hospitality prizes rather than cash.
In the 5km race, first place comes with a two-night BB stay for two people, while second and third place winners will receive meal vouchers for four and two people respectively.
Organisers Expect Big Turnout
Musabvunda Sportswear organiser Kudzai Pasipanodya said preparations are progressing well, with registrations already surpassing 1,500 athletes.
Pasipanodya said organisers were working to ensure that all aspects of the festival were ready ahead of the arrival of participants.
Jah Prayzah To Headline After-Party
The sporting action will be followed by an entertainment programme, with the Mountain Valley Marathon After Party set to take place at Montclair Resort.
Jah Prayzah will headline the celebrations, with DJ Iroq and Abisha Palmer also set to perform.
The combination of the races and music festival is expected to give the event a broader appeal, bringing together runners, music lovers and visitors travelling to Nyanga for the weekend.
