A Victoria Falls man, aged 32, has been condemned to spend the next forty years behind bars for the brutal rape of two young sisters, aged just nine and ten.
The Hwange Magistrates’ Court delivered the hefty sentence, marking a decisive victory for justice and a stark warning to those who would prey upon the most vulnerable in society. The case, which unfolded this past September, revealed a calculated predator who used a simple childhood treat to ensnare his victims.
The court heard how the tragedy struck on the morning of 25 September 2025. The two sisters were embarking on their daily journey to school, their minds filled with the innocent thoughts of childhood, when their path was crossed by evil. The man, a familiar face in the vicinity, called the girls over to his property.

He cunningly used the promise of baobab fruits, a popular local snack, to coax the children into his yard. What began as a seemingly generous offer quickly spiralled into a nightmare from which they could not escape. A representative from the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) outlined the grim details, stating,
“The situation turned sinister when he instructed the two victims to enter his bedroom hut. Once inside, he locked the door and committed the heinous crime.”

The monster’s dark secret was not destined to remain hidden for long. Fate intervened when a sharp-eyed relative witnessed the two young girls leaving the confines of the man’s sleeping quarters. Alarmed by this highly suspicious activity, the relative immediately alerted the children’s grandmother and father.
Upon being gently questioned by their distressed family, the terrified sisters, through tears and trauma, recounted the horrific violation they had just endured. Their heartbreaking testimony provided the crucial evidence needed to set the wheels of justice in motion. The matter was reported to the Victoria Falls police without delay, leading to the swift apprehension of the perpetrator.
The subsequent conviction and staggering forty-year sentence have been hailed as a powerful statement from the Zimbabwean judiciary. The NPAZ emphasised that the ruling is part of a concerted and unyielding campaign against crimes targeting children. In an official communication, the authority declared,
“The courts are taking a hard stance on those who abuse the innocent. Communities must remain vigilant in protecting children. Report any suspicious activity immediately.”
