Wanitwa Mos sta Pontsho Casswell Ramothwala, the gifted producer and artist known universally as Casswell P, dies, according to a statement made by his family. The Limpopo-born hitmaker was just 31 years old when he succumbed to severe lung-related complications this past Saturday, after a four-week struggle in Edenvale General Hospital.
The news has sent ripples of disbelief through his inner circle and the industry at large. His family formally confirmed the heartbreaking loss, stating,
“We did not expect this to happen. We will share all the details in due time.”
His close friend, Tebogo Mokitimi, revealed the sudden nature of the illness.
“Casswell hardly ever said he was feeling sick, so when he was admitted to the hospital, it came as a surprise to everyone because he was healthy; everything was well,” Mokitimi shared.

He detailed the distressing onset of the condition, explaining,
“He suddenly had breathing issues and the doctors checked and found respiratory complications and lung issues, but we are yet to get a full autopsy.”

Beyond his sudden illness, friends are choosing to remember Casswell P for his gentle character and immense talent. Mokitimi painted a picture of a deeply principled artist, noting,
“He was a quiet and kind person. Everyone knew he was a clean person who didn’t drink or smoke. He loved his music.”
This dedication was evident in his career, which began at the tender age of 16 and saw him collaborate with major artists like Makhadzi and Nkosazana Daughter.

His potential was further highlighted by a 2024 Metro FM Award nomination for Best Dance Song for his single ‘Can’t Get’, featuring Nobuhle, cementing his status as a rising star at the height of his powers.
