The Warriors’ preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations have suffered an early setback after three players were released from the provisional squad due to injuries.

The affected trio — Tymon Machope, Xolani Ndlovu, and Andrew Mbeba — were ruled out following medical evaluations conducted by the technical team.

ZIFA Confirms Player Withdrawals

In a statement, ZIFA confirmed that the players had been sent home as a precaution to safeguard their long-term fitness.

“The Zimbabwe Warriors’ Technical Department confirms that three players have been officially released from camp following medical assessments that ruled them out due to injury:

1. Tymon Machope
2. Xolani Ndlovu
3. Andrew Mbeba

Their release is a precautionary measure to protect their long-term fitness. We thank them for their professionalism and wish them a swift recovery,” the association said.

Locally-Based Players Begin Reporting for Camp

Despite the setback, the locally-based group of players has already begun reporting to camp, with arrivals starting on Sunday.

The coaching staff is expected to intensify preparations as the tournament draws closer.

Final Squad Announcement Expected Next Week

The final 23-man Warriors squad is set to be announced next week, in line with CAF regulations that require teams to confirm their squads at least ten days before the start of the tournament, which kicks off on 21 December 2025.
