“We Are Being Harassed”: Isibaya Actress Gcina Mkhize Battles Eviction After Auction of Her Home

Isibaya Actress Gcina Mkhize Pleads for Help as New Homeowner Intensifies Eviction Efforts

Former Isibaya actress Gcina Mkhize is appealing for public assistance as she continues to fight eviction from her Glenvista home, which was auctioned after she allegedly defaulted on her bond repayments.

Mkhize insists the bank acted unlawfully when it sold the property on 3 October 2023, claiming she was never properly informed about the legal steps leading to the auction.

The house, which she purchased with her ex-husband in 2015, has been her family home for nearly a decade.

Following their 2018 divorce, the court ordered both parties to contribute equally to the bond repayments — a responsibility she says she could not meet after losing her income.

Alleged Harassment by Home’s New Buyer

Mkhize says the man who claims to have bought the house has been harassing her and her children since February 2024. In a video shared on social media, the actress alleges that the buyer broke parts of the property’s walls and threatened to smash all the windows.

She further claims the man’s brother had her son arrested after he tried to stop the destruction. According to Mkhize, the men have also interfered with the family’s electricity supply, leaving them in distress.

Despite opening several police cases, she says no meaningful action has been taken.

Pressure Mounts as Eviction Application Proceeds

The situation escalated when the buyer approached the Booysen Magistrates Court to apply for her eviction. Mkhize says the magistrate has urged her to bring legal representation to the proceedings, but she has been unable to secure a lawyer willing to work pro bono due to her financial struggles.

With no income and facing rising intimidation, Mkhize says she feels helpless and desperate for intervention. She maintains that her financial hardships and divorce complications contributed to the bond repayment difficulties, but insists the family should not be subjected to harassment while the legal dispute is ongoing.

@nzukiyekani;

This is sad bantu. Can relevant people please assist this lady. She’s been asking for help since last year

@nolowblessing;

Why do people in the media industry always face these hardships? it’s so sad man, I wish the government could do something about this. 💔

@BuntuM;

Lady must vacate the house. She needs to utilise this energy to finding a place for her children instead of blackmailing all of us. She’s not fighting the bank that repossessed her house.

@TheGeopol;

She should go build a shack in the township, the person who bought the house has every right to evict her.

Celebrities must learn that they are not above the law
