Businessman Wicknell Chivayo has announced the donation of 10 ambulances and 200 000 litres of diesel to Zimbabwe’s healthcare sector, saying the contribution is aimed at strengthening emergency medical services and supporting Vision 2030. The announcement was made on Wednesday, 25 March 2026, with the ambulances expected to be deployed across provincial hospitals nationwide.

Chivayo revealed the development on Wednesday morning, describing the donation as part of efforts to improve access to healthcare services across Zimbabwe.

The businessman said the ambulances would be distributed across the country’s 10 provinces, with diesel allocated to ensure the vehicles remain operational.

“State-Of-The-Art Ambulances” For Provincial Hospitals

In his statement dated 25 March 2026, Chivayo confirmed that the ambulances form part of a broader pledge to support Zimbabwe’s healthcare system.

“Following the successful delivery and distribution of 10 ambulances that I donated across the Country in November last year, I am pleased to announce the delivery of an additional 10 state-of-the-art ambulances, out of my pledge I made to deliver 20 more.”

He said the contribution was meant to support national healthcare development goals.

“This is a humbling contribution in support of the visionary leadership of H.E. President E.D. Mnangagwa and Government’s healthcare aspirations under Vision 2030, where quality, accessible and modern healthcare is central to achieving an upper middle-income economy.”

Chivayo added that the ambulances would be deployed based on areas of greatest need.

“The full complement of the 20 ambulances will be deployed across the country’s 10 provincial hospitals, as guided and approved by the Principal and the Ministry of Health and Child Care, who are well versed with the areas of greatest need.”

200 000 Litres Of Diesel To Support Operations

In addition to the ambulances, Chivayo announced that fuel support would be provided to ensure operational efficiency.

“This donation will come with 200,000 litres of diesel, to ensure that each province receives at least the equivalent of 20,000 litres to sustain operations and guarantee utilisation throughout the year.”

He described the initiative as part of broader support for national development.

“This is my humble way, as a responsible and patriotic citizen, of supporting the Government, supporting our people and advancing Vision 2030 under the able leadership of His Excellency, the President.”

Chivayo concluded his announcement by emphasising the importance of strengthening healthcare systems.

“A healthy nation is a wealthy nation.”

The ambulances and diesel are expected to be distributed once deployment arrangements are finalised.
