‘A Great Farmer’: Wicknell Chivayo Hails President Ruto’s Passion For Agriculture
Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo has praised Kenyan President William Ruto after getting a personal look at his farming operations.
Chivayo said what began as a brief farewell visit turned into an afternoon he would remember.
He shared details of the encounter on X after visiting Ruto before leaving Kenya.
Ruto Gives Chivayo A Tour Of His Farm
According to Chivayo, the Kenyan president hosted him for lunch before taking him around the farm.
Chivayo said he was impressed by the scale and organisation of the agricultural projects.
He highlighted Ruto’s macadamia plantations, maize production and livestock operations.
The businessman said the farm has more than 3,000 sheep.
He noted that the sheep also help manage grass around the macadamia trees.
Chivayo described the operation as evidence of careful planning and productivity.
Chivayo Praises Ruto’s Hands-On Approach
Chivayo said Ruto’s interest in farming appeared to go beyond his responsibilities as Kenya’s president.
He described the Kenyan leader as a passionate farmer who takes a hands-on approach to agriculture.
According to Chivayo, Ruto spoke extensively about food security and the importance of agricultural production.
He said the experience left him impressed by the president’s work ethic and approach to development.
“What impressed me even more was the MAN himself,” Chivayo wrote.
He also praised Ruto for personally driving him around the farm and explaining the different projects.
Businessman Links Ruto’s Approach To Leadership
Chivayo used the farm visit to draw a connection between agricultural management and leadership.
He argued that effective leadership requires planning, accountability, proper resource management and execution.
He acknowledged that running a country is far more complicated than managing a farm or business.
However, he said the principles required to make smaller operations work can also offer lessons for larger responsibilities.
Chivayo also praised President Emmerson Mnangagwa for promoting agriculture and food security in Zimbabwe.
He said both leaders have emphasised practical farming, resilience and greater national self-sufficiency.
Chivayo’s Message To Aspiring Leaders
The businessman also used his post to challenge people who aspire to become presidents one day.
He encouraged them to gain practical experience by building businesses, employing people or starting agricultural projects.
Chivayo said aspiring leaders should learn how to manage money, solve problems and turn ideas into productive ventures.
“Leadership is not merely standing behind a microphone and making speeches. It is the ability to MAKE THINGS WORK,” he wrote.

Chivayo ended his message by thanking Ruto for what he described as his hospitality, humility and friendship.
He said witnessing the Kenyan president’s personal commitment to agriculture had strengthened his respect for him.
“Kenya is blessed with enormous agricultural potential,” Chivayo said.
He described Ruto as a “GREAT FARMER” and a “VERY HUMBLE and HARDWORKING MAN.”
