Wicknell Chivayo’s Brother G6 Gifts Scottland FC US$50,000 After Beating Petro de Luanda

Scottland FC Players Get US$150,000 Cash Bonuses After Beating Petro de Luanda

Scottland FC players are US$150,000 richer after receiving cash rewards from club owner Pedzai “Scott” Sakupwanya and businessman Joachim Chivayo following their victory over Angola’s Petro de Luanda in the CAF Champions League.

Chivayo, popularly known as G6 contributed US$50,000, while Sakupwanya handed the players a US$100,000 bonus after the Zimbabwean champions secured a 2-0 win in the first leg of their second preliminary round tie at the National Sports Stadium.

The financial rewards came after Scottland made a strong start to their maiden campaign in African club football, putting themselves in a favourable position ahead of the return fixture in Angola.

Billiat And Musona Secure Victory

Scottland had to work for the result despite Petro de Luanda playing with 10 men for almost the entire match.

Former Warriors winger Khama Billiat broke the deadlock in the 66th minute, giving the hosts a crucial lead as they looked to make their home advantage count.

Billiat then turned provider with 10 minutes remaining, setting up Knowledge Musona to score Scottland’s second goal and give the hosts a valuable two-goal cushion.

The result gives the Zimbabwean side an advantage to defend when the teams meet again in Angola on Friday.

Sakupwanya And Chivayo Reward Players

The reported US$150,000 payout comprised contributions from Sakupwanya and Chivayo, who rewarded the squad following its performance against the Angolan outfit.

Sakupwanya, who owns the Mabvuku-based club, reportedly contributed the larger share at US$100,000, with Chivayo adding US$50,000.

Chivayo is the brother of the late businessman Wicknell Chivayo, who was associated with the club as a benefactor before his death in a helicopter crash last month.

The reported bonuses provide an additional incentive for the players as they prepare for the decisive second leg.

Scottland Chase Progress In Africa

Scottland entered the continental competition as Zimbabwean champions and are competing in African club football for the first time.

Their victory over Petro de Luanda gives them a significant opportunity to advance, although the return match in Angola will determine whether they can convert their first-leg advantage into progress in the competition.

With two goals separating the sides, Scottland will be aiming to protect their lead away from home and continue their debut continental campaign.
