The singer took to her X (formerly Twitter) account to share pictures of the gown, which was designed by media personality and fashion entrepreneur Somizi Mhlongo.

Makhadzi expressed excitement over the outfit and praised Somizi for delivering what she described as a dramatic and bold design for the awards ceremony.

In her post, the award-winning artist thanked Somizi and his team, saying she had been looking for a dramatic look and was thrilled with the final result.

Somizi Also Draws Criticism

The backlash did not stop with Makhadzi, as Somizi also came under fire from critics who blamed him for what they labelled an “ugly” outfit. Some users accused the designer of letting the singer down, arguing that the gown did not match the stature of a SAMA red-carpet appearance.
