Match officials face disciplinary action
The sanctions relate to two separate PSL fixtures played on 1 August 2026.
Dirwai officiated the Scotland FC versus MWOS FC encounter at Rufaro Stadium.
Mhaka was the referee for the FC Platinum and Simba Bhora clash at Mandava Stadium.
According to ZIFA, match commissioners submitted reports raising concerns about decisions made during both games.
“The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) confirms the suspension of Premier Soccer League referees Quedsani Dirwai and Magare Mhaka from officiating PSL starches for six matchdays, from Matchday 27 to Matchday 32.
The sanctions follow reports submitted by match commissioners regarding matches officiated by the two referees on 1 August 2026.
Dirwai was sanctioned following his handling of the Scotland FC vs MWOS FC match at Rufaro Stadium, while Mhaka was sanctioned following the FC Platinum vs Simba Bhora match at Mandava Stadium,” reads part of the statement.
Decisions deemed to have affected results
The football governing body said the reported errors were considered serious because they were believed to have influenced the outcomes of the matches.
“In both instances, the match commissioners reported incorrect decisions deemed to have influenced the outcome of the respective matches.”
ZIFA cites referees’ code
ZIFA said the suspensions were imposed under Article 22 of its Referees Code of Conduct.
The disciplinary action comes as refereeing decisions continue to attract scrutiny in the domestic league.
“The sanctions have been imposed in accordance with Article 22 of the ZIFA Referees Code of Conduct, which provides the regulatory framework governing the conduct and performance of match officials.”
