Zimbabwe-Eligible Camron Mpofu Signs Manchester United Academy Scholarship
Zimbabwe-eligible youngster Camron Mpofu has moved a step closer to achieving his dream of playing for Manchester United’s senior team after being awarded a first-year academy scholarship by the English club.
The 16-year-old forward has been included in the club’s latest intake of academy scholars for the 2026/27 season, reflecting the progress he has made since joining the Red Devils’ youth setup.

Reward for Impressive Development
Camron Mpofu arrived at Manchester United from Reading FC in 2024 and has continued to impress within one of English football’s most respected youth academies.
His new scholarship secures the next phase of his development and places him on the pathway towards earning a professional contract once he reaches the required age.
Manchester United unveiled 15 first-year scholars for the upcoming campaign, with Mpofu featuring among the club’s most exciting young prospects.
Mpofu Joins Famous Football Families
The latest academy intake also includes several youngsters with famous surnames.
Among them are Kai Rooney, son of Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney, and Jacey Carrick, whose father Michael Carrick captained the club before later managing Middlesbrough.
Their inclusion highlights the calibre of players joining the academy alongside Mpofu.
Camron Mpofu Eligible to Represent Zimbabwe
Although born in England to a Zimbabwean father and a Scottish mother, Mpofu remains eligible to represent Zimbabwe on the international stage.
The teenage attacker has featured for Scotland at youth level but can still switch allegiance to the Warriors through his Zimbabwean heritage if he chooses to do so in the future.
His continued rise at one of the world’s biggest football clubs is likely to be followed closely by Zimbabwean football supporters hopeful of seeing him one day wear the national team’s colours.
